My Story: Where Beauty and Heritage Meet
Hi! I’m Martha Kuroda, event decorator and the founder of Marsi Events. When people ask me how I found my way into this world, I always tell them that my story didn’t start with a business plan—it started at my Abuelita’s feet in Torreón, México.
I grew up watching her transform simple fabric into art. She was a woman whose hands were never still; she designed my dresses and spent her days sewing with such deep love and intention. Back then, I was just a little girl captivated by the rhythm of her sewing machine, but looking back, I realize she was teaching me my very first lessons in design. She showed me that beauty isn't just about how something looks; it’s about the care you pour into it.
A Childhood Rooted in Creativity
How It Started
That creative spark bloomed in me naturally. I spent countless hours playing with my dolls, but I wasn't just "playing house"—I was hosting. I would set up elaborate little juego de té (tea parties), meticulously decorating tiny tables with whatever my imagination could find. Even then, as an aspiring Martha Kuroda, event decorator, I was already designing moments meant to bring joy to others.
By the age of nine, I found my "happy place": a small gift shop near my home. I would stand there, absolutely mesmerized, watching the owner wrap presents. The way she handled the ribbon and tucked the paper with such elegance felt like magic. I remember thinking, “One day, I want a place just like this—a place where I can create beauty and make someone say, ‘Wow.’”
The Path to Marsi Events
As I grew up, that pull toward creativity followed me everywhere—from performing baile folklórico to naturally becoming “the planner” for every family birthday and holiday. I was always the one bringing the celebration to life, finding joy in the logistical puzzle and the aesthetic finish.
My Design Philosophy: Decor with Heart
Today, I carry the heart of my Abuelita into every event I touch.
